| Photo by Sharon Emerling Mong-Lan (a renowned Vietnamese-American poet) speaks at Landstuhl Elementary and Middle School Oct 22. Having just returned from an international poetry convention in Indonesia, Mong-Lan discussed geography and gave a brief overview of Vietnamese history before presenting some of her poetry. She has been an artist-poet in residence at U.S. high schools, and enjoys working with students of all ages. One of the student’s favorite poems was “Love Poem to Spinach.” Above, fourth-graders look on as she shows the illustrations in one of her books. |
