Every two years, the communities of Kaiserslautern-Süd, Landstuhl and Waldfischbach-Burgalben sponsor the event “Biking Fun in Sickingen County.” County road L363 between Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl and Waldfischbach-burgalben will be closed to motorized traffic from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Bicyclists, walkers, hikers and inline skaters can enjoy the 20-kilometer long car-free route and the entertaining programs villages provide.

This year, the official start of the event is in front of the historical town hall in Queidersbach. Mayor Uwe Unnold will open the biking fun at 10 a.m. with the support of young local biking talents demonstrating their skills. Afterward, a guided tour of the museum located in the town hall will be offered for those who don’t want to get on their bike right away. Homemade cakes baked in the museum oven will be served. A petting zoo will also be available and the local butcher will serve food specialties.

In the town Linden, the band Crime & Passion will present live music and local clubs and associations will offer a wide variety of culinary specialties such as pizza, Italian salad, schnitzel sandwiches, homefries, frikadellen and bratwurst.

Another 2.9 kilometers south in Horbach, participants can enjoy baked potatoes, sandwiches and fruit juices.

Live brass music will be played in Steinalben.

In Waldfischbach-Burgalben, bicyclists can get help if having problems with their bikes. A farmers’ market is set up and stores will be open. The local golf club will also offer an entertaining program and let non-golfers get a taste of the sport.
Those starting the car-free fun in Landstuhl can tour Nanstein Castle and get information from the tourist information stand.

Another service station for bicyclists is in Bann, 2.9 kilometers past Landstuhl.
