The center of Kaiserslautern will turn into a giant playground Saturday when the city and the advertising association “Kaiser in Lautern” sponsor its annual children’s fest. Stores, local clubs and institutions will present manifold activities and special offers.

Children can learn from a balloon artist how to make figures from balloons and test their skills in can throwing, running with eggs and rope skipping. They can try out badminton, climbing on a climbing volcano, table tennis and a lot of other sports activities. In a creative workshop children can learn how to make soap and crafts with paper. They can paint the street with chalk, build boats, carve window decorations out of soap stones and do pottery.

A local ballet studio will invite the little ones to dance with them at 3 p.m. at Altenhof.

The free kiddy train will take children on a tour from noon to 4 p.m. starting on Schillerplatz.

The radio station RPR1 in Fackelstrasse will show children how to cook healthy food.

“This year we offer manifold activities for each taste,” said Alexander Hess, manager of Kaiser in Lautern. “Children can have fun and parents can check out the special offers by stores and restaurants.”

Information flyers listing the full program will be available in the stores that are members of Kaiser in Lautern and in public places. For details, visit www.werbegemeinschaft-kl.de.
