The community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn will sponsor a “Culinary beer hike on the trail of the Celts” Saturday and Sunday. The event will also include a brewer’s market, musical entertainment and a skate night.

The hike will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday on Dr. Leo-Dietzel-Platz in Alsenborn, next to the public swimming pool. Here, participants will find the first of six culinary stations set up along a scenic and mythical hiking route.

“At this starting point, we will set up a brewer market  with beer garden, where local and regional breweries will offer beer specialties,” said Christoph Molter from the organizing event team. “Since the focus of this hike is on beer, all other stations will serve a wide variety of beers as well as food prepared with beer, such as Oma’s beer goulash with noodles.”

Other delicacies will consist of alligator, zebra and kangaroo burgers, and salmon from the Finish Kota grill.

Hike participants also get to taste barbecue specialties, flammkuchen, trout and other fish dishes at the food stations. As dessert they should enjoy Rusty Knights, sweet rolls with vanilla, chocolate or cherry sauce.

Along the 7-kilometer hiking route to Billesweiher pond, hikers will see mysterious time signals from the Celts, whose origin and background yet have to be explored.

Saturday, the musical entertainment will feature the Sembach Music Association performing at 2 p.m. and the rock band Fused at 7 p.m. An early beer get-together will be accompanied  by a regional band before the Jam Brothers will start playing at 3 p.m.

“To finance the musical program, we ask hikers to please buy a hiking pass for €3, or a beer pass for €8 at stand number 1 or 5. With the beer pass, hikers can create their own beer tasting and get their glasses filled at each station for €2 per filling”, said Molter.

Another special event taking place will be the Skate Night starting at 6 p.m. Saturday. Some streets will be closed for skaters. Motorists are asked to follow the parking signs.
