The North Palatinate Farmers Market will take place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in Schneckenhausen. Regional farmers and vendors will present items of high quality at about 70 stands. The event also will feature a tractor display and thresher demonstration.

The market is known for fresh regional products such as honey, jelly, cheese, fish, bread, pumpkins, liquors and juices. Local hunters will offer anything concerning game and a herbal garden.

“We were able to lure numerous French vendors to this year’s market,” said Carola Ibrom from the Otterbach-Otterberg tourist office. “They offer delicious cheese, sweet marmalades and finely spiced wurst delicacies.”

Vendors will present their merchandise such as jewelry, pottery, wooden items and wool.

Besides old tractors, historical agricultural equipment will be on display. By watching threshing demonstrations, visitors will learn how farmers used to work.

Children will find ponies, chickens, ducks and rabbits in a petting zoo and can  participate in games.

“A special highlight will be a visit of the Pappelhof farm, where horses look out of their boxes, musicians perform and artisans present their works,” said Ibrom.

Farmers and vendors will offer their culinary specialties and wines, and local females will serve homemade cakes in the Buergerhaus. The wine stand gives a chance to taste the “Bizzler,” the first new wine of the year, which tastes more like grape juice and contains less alcohol.
