The Mackenbach sports club, SVM, will celebrate five days of “Kerwe,” or village carnival, from today to Tuesday. A diversified program will offer a mix of sports and entertainment on the sports field, in the Sportheim and the fest tent.

The event will start with the youth soccer team, B-Juniors, playing SC Fehrenbach at 7 p.m. today.

Kerwe will continue with the E-Juniors playing SV Steinwenden at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. The second team will play at 2:15 p.m. against SG Wolfstein, and the first team will play at 4 p.m. against SV Schopp.

The old gentlemen’s team will close out Saturday with a game at 6 p.m. playing Hütschenhausen-Spesbach.

On Sunday, the Sportheim will serve lunch starting at noon.

The live dance band Favorits will provide entertainment and present their big repertory at 8 p.m. in the fest tent.

On Monday, the traditional kerwe frühschoppen will start at 10 a.m. Organizers expect about 700 to 800 visitors throughout the day, which is considered an unofficial holiday for locals.

Solo entertainer Manni will provide musical fun, before the Favorits perform at night again.

Festivities will end with the eating of herring at noon Tuesday.
