Events

The Atlantic Academy Rhineland-Palatinate, in cooperation with “Welcome to Rheinland-Pfalz”, will offer a lecture, “Germany in an Election Year. Parties, Candidates, Issues” Sept. 13. The lecture will focus on the basics of German politics and is aimed at English speakers in the Kaiserslautern region. The event will start  5:30 p.m. at Lauterstrasse 2, Kaiserslautern. Guided tours of the Abbey Church in Otterberg, in German, will be offered the first Sunday of each month. Interested participants will meet at 2:30 p.m. at the main entrance of the church. The one-hour long tour costs €3.

The old smithy in Otterberg, Kirchstrasse, will be open to the public at 4 p.m. every first Saturday of the month. Admission is free.

The museum in Otterberg, which is located in the tourist information office, Hauptstrasse 54, is open during 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

KMC Onstage

“GREATER TUNA”: Join KMC Onstage for a riotous good time in this unique comedy production that is fun for the entire family! Two actors play 22 roles between them. Performances are at

GHOST STORY THEATER: On Nov. 3 & 4, KMC Onstage invites you to join us as actors tell ghost stories around the campfire.  This is an event for the whole family; however, younger children may be frightened by the nature of the event. PERCEPTION: Enjoy the premier performance of an original musical by a local playwright that addresses the theme of traumatic brain injuries. Performances are November 17, 18, & 19. Armstrong’s Club Events

Noche De Rumba at Armstrong’s Club: On Oct. 7, In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, bring your congas, maracas, guiro or timbales to play and dance the night away! There will be a live DJ spinning Latin music. Join in on the fun and make your own music! Don’t have any instruments? Feel free to move to the rhythym on the dance floor from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Rocktoberfest at Armstrong’s Club: From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Oct. 14, wear pink, enjoy a live rock band and rock out in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Liquid Hot Magma is a local band with a set list that includes Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, Bon Jovi and more!

A Taste of Germany: 5 p.m. every Monday at Castello’s Snack Bar inside Armstrong’s Club. Indulge in traditional and delicious German meals for $5 per plate. The meals vary each week; menus are available at www.kaiserslautern.armymwr.com.

Women and Wine: 6 to 10 p.m. the first and third Monday of every month. This get together allows women to make friends and form a social network in a fun environment. Food and beverages available for purchase.

Small Tab Tuesdays: 5 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday. Play a game of pool or pick your favorite jam on the jukebox while enjoying specials.

Trivia Wednesdays: 7 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday.

Karaoke Fridays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday. Show off your singing skills and  socialize in a fun environment.

Latin Saturdays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every first and third Saturday of the month.

Kazabra Club Events

Texas Hold’em and Game Night:
8 p.m. to midnight every Friday. Buy-in is $25. Register and buy in by 7 p.m. Other games available for play include dominoes, cornhole and table pong.

Country Night: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturdays. There is a $5 cover charge.

Country and Western Dance Classes: 7:30 p.m. the first Saturday of every month. No cover charge.

Sunday Bingo: 3 p.m. every Sunday. Doors open at 1 p.m. Bingo packs start at $30. Prizes will be based upon participation. Play the progressive game for a chance to win up to $5,000.

Support Groups

Single Parent Support Group meets from 11:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month. Join Family Advocacy Program for this educational class to examine services and tools that will aid in successful parenting. Ramstein Catholic Faith Community Pastoral Coordinator: The Ramstein North Chapel is accepting bids for a contract position from 1 – 15 September 2017. The contractor shall provide all personnel, labor, materials, and transportation to provide non-personal service in support of the Ramstein Chapel for the Ramstein Faith Community Pastoral Coordinator as located in the Kaiserslautern Military Community.  The Coordinator is responsible for overall calendar development and programming, budget development and tracking, data management, publicity for all ministries and the Liturgies of the CFC.  The Coordinator must be able to efficiently organize, communicate, and manage diverse program elements to include Pastoral programs and Liturgical components of CFC.  Documented evidence of the following is preferred but not required: A bachelor degree in Business Administration or Information Management and two years of experience in management, OR five years experience in administration and personnel management.  The contractor is subject to criminal history background checks and will accomplish the Ramstein Chapel Contractor in-processing checklist upon award of the contract. The Request for Proposal and bid package can be picked up from the North Chapel from 1 -15 Sept 2017 from 0730-1600.  Bids are due by 1600 on 15 Sept 2017.  Interviews will take place on 21 Sept 2017 beginning at 0800 at Ramstein North Chapel.  The contract will be awarded based on Best Value. Meetings

Rheinland Pfalz Quilt Guild will meet for its monthly guild meeting Sept. 13 in the KMCC multipurpose room (adjacent to food court). Social time will be 5:30 p.m., the program with guild business, Show and Tell, and free motion quilting… Where to begin!” Part II class will start at 6 p.m. Anyone and any skill level interested in quilting are welcome. Ramstein Toastmasters will meet every first, second and third Tuesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ramstein South Chapel, Bldg. 2403. Individuals who want to develop their public speaking skills, are welcome to visit the meetings free of charge. Participants can prepare for board interviews, promotional ceremonies  or leadership roles. Public speaking skills or aspirations can be  advanced and enhanced. Oktoberfest Express: On Sept. 16 and 20, let Baumholder Outdoor Recreation be your designated driver to the 184th annual Munich Oktoberfest. In addition to the food, drink and festivities available in the massive beer garden tents, Oktoberfest offers live music, rides, souvenirs and a great mix of people from all over the world. Amsterdam Express with Outdoor Recreation: On Oct. 7, visit Amsterdam, the “Venice of the North!” With no set schedule or tour guide to follow, you are free to choose your own adventure. Tour the Heineken Brewery, explore the notorious Red Light District, take a Canal Cruise, see the historic Anne Frank House or view world famous artwork in museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum or a satellite location of the Hermitage Museum. Tongeren Antiques Market: On Oct. 15, go bargain hunting at the Tongeren Antiques Market! Are you a passionate collector of baubles and curiosities? If so, Baumholer Outdoor Recreation has the bargain hunt for you! Tongeren, one of the oldest towns in Belgium, has hosted one of the largest antique and flea markets in the region for more than 30 years. Every Sunday morning, more than 350 exhibitors and about 40 antique shops display their best merchandise to numerous visitors and bargain hunters. Your visit to the antique and flea market can be completed with a visit to the Gallo-Roman Museum or the historic town center where many stores are open for Sunday shopping! We’ll bring our van and trailer to bring back your findings. Cost is $49 per person. Children’s Halloween Carnival: On October 31, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Baumholder Family and MWR presents a Children’s Halloween Carnival in conjunction with Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers. Enjoy 13 booths with spooky activities for only $0.25 per ticket, or 10 tickets for $2. Feast on nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, and witches brew, or try your luck at winning a sweet treat in our cakewalk.  Compete in our pre-carved pumpkin contest, with divisions for children 5-11 and 12-18.  Be crowned the winner of the scariest, prettiest, or most creative costume.
