» The Kaiserslautern fire station will hold an open house to celebrate its 60th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be live music with the band Full House, children’s activities, displays, guided tours, barbecue specialties and pea soup. Visitors can park at the Toom store and use the free shuttle bus. The fire station is located An der Feuerwache, Kaiserslautern.

» The 2015 Summer Reading Program has kicked off through July 24. This fun and educational program encourages reading throughout the summer months. Read and earn prizes. Registration is open throughout the entire Summer Reading Program. An end-of-summer party will take place from 10 a.m. to noon July 24 at Landstuhl Library. » A hunters’ and collectors’ flea market will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Jagdhaus near the road coming from Ramstein East Gate toward Einsiedlerhof (turn left near car dealer and insurance company and drive about 650 feet into the forest). Hunting and recreation items will be offered; food and beverages will be available; and an auction will start 3 p.m. Profits will be donated to the Aid Initiative for Kids with Cancer. KMC Onstage

» Open auditions for Junie B. Jones will be at 7 p.m. July 21 and 22. Need an adult and child cast, ages 8 and older. Wear clothing that is comfortable to move in. A song will be taught at auditions and participants will be asked to cold read. Performances are Aug. 28 to 30 and
Sep. 11 to 13.

» KMC Onstage Summer Theater Camp: The “Heroes, Myths and Legends” Summer Theater Camp will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 17. This camp is for children or youth wanting to get involved with theater at KMC Onstage. The theater camp will teach playwriting, design, acting and stage movement skills, and in the process, give the kids a chance to create, build and present their very own show. The performance will be held on July 18. Open to youth, ages 8 to 18. Cost: $250 per student; $175 for additional family members. Space is limited; sign up in advance.

Armstrong’s Club Events

» Comedy Show: July 25. Features celebrity guest host Reginald “Bruh Man” Ballard and comedians Cerrome Russell, Jokestar Niem Lyon and Julius Carter. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; show begins at 9 p.m. Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Purchase tickets in advance at Armstrong’s Club, any Java Cafe in the KMC or online via WebTrac.

» Beer Fest: 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 14 and 1 to 9 p.m. Aug.15. Taste beers from around the world, try traditional German and Bavarian food and bring home a commemorative beer mug. Exclusive beers will be available for purchase. Cost: $19.95 per person/per day; $34.95 per person/2 days. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. » Karaoke Superstar 2: Competition rounds begin at 9 p.m. every Friday during the month of July for a chance to win money. Each week two winners receive $50 and move forward to the finale, July 31 for a chance to win $300 and a trophy.

» Small Tab Tuesdays: 5 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday play a game of pool or pick your favorite jam on the jukebox while enjoying specials.

» Trivia Wednesdays: 6 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday.

» Throwback Thursdays: 7 p.m. every other Thursday, listen to hits from the ’80s, ’90s and today.

» Karaoke Fridays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday show off your singing skills and socialize in a fun environment.

» Comfort Measures and Relaxation for Childbirth takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. the third Friday of every month. Come to this interactive class and bring a partner or friend, water and wear comfortable clothes. Topics include: massage and acupressure, positions for labor, use of tools such as the birth ball, meditation and focusing techniques, aromatherapy, and hot and cold therapies. » Basic Training for New Parents class takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday. Get all the tools you need to be the best parent you can be. » Host Nation Orientation class takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17. If you’re new to the KMC, Join Army Community Service for this free two-day class. The first day covers an overview of Rheinland-Pfalz, German culture and customs. On the second day, enjoy a special insider’s tour of K-town, or Kaiserslautern. » Army Community Service’s 50th Birthday Celebration takes place July 24. Community members are invited to join ACS for free cake and coffee (while supplies last) at the Baumholder Java Cafe from 8 a.m. to noon and at the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Java Cafe from 1 to 5 p.m. A photo gallery of ACS photos highlighting years of service from staff members and volunteers will be displayed at both locations. » The Get Fit & Eat Right Challenge phase 1 takes place through July 28 at the Mountaineer Fitness Center. This six-week challenge is designed to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The following will be offered: a variety of fitness classes designed to blast fat and build lean muscle; weekly weigh-ins and body composition measurements; weekly support sessions every Tuesday; nutritional guidance given by a licensed dietician; access to a certified personal trainer; and prizes.
