Events

» A free comedy show featuring comedian and talk show host George Lopez is on Saturday at Hangar 3, Bldg. 2310. Doors open at 7, show starts at 9 p.m. This show is for ages 18 and older; ID cards will be checked. Seating is limited and no outside alcohol or video and audio recording permitted.

» The U.S. Forces in Europe Battle of the Battleships takes place from noon to 4 p.m. today at the Ramstein Aquatic Center. Participants can build their vessel by only using cardboard and duct tape, and then battle for victory in the Aquatics Center pool. Event is open to all military and civilians. Entry is $25 per team. Registration ends today.

» Strong B.A.N.D.S. Campaign
In recognition of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the annual Strong Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength Campaign has a variety of activities throughout the month of May. Attend one of these activities to earn a Strong B.A.N.D.S. armband.

» May 1 through 31: Enjoy healthy meal options at the Sembach Community Activity Center, Bldg. 220. Daily dining hours: 7 to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: Cross Country 10-Miler, 10:30 a.m., Rhine Ordnance Barracks. $5. Registration on-site, 9 to 10:15 a.m. Open to ID cardholders, ages 16 and older.

» Monday through Thursday: Unit Level Soccer Championships, 6 p.m. Daily at Landstuhl Cage Field. Free for spectators.

» Wednesday: Story Walk, 10:30 a.m., Rheinland-Pfalz Library at Landstuhl, Bldg. 3810. Open to all ages.

» May 22 to 25: Outdoor Recreation whitewater rafting and canyoning trip, starting at $369. Sign-up through Outdoor Recreation, Pulaski Bks., Bldg. 2905.

» May 29: USDA approved healthy snacks served at all Child, Youth and Social Services facilities at 3 p.m. A kiddie obstacle course will be offered at Landstuhl Child Development Center 1 at 4 p.m. For more information, visit kaiserslautern.armymwr.com.

» May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. The AAPIH committee will offer the following events:

» Professional Development Seminars are from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, and 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Hercules Theater. Key note speakers will discuss what AAPIH means to them, overcoming struggles and achieving success in the U.S. Air Force.

» Expo is from 3 to 5 p.m. and the finale is from 6 to 8 p.m.
May 29 at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center Food Court. Learn about Asian and Pacific Islander culture and experience interactive demos, food sampling, dance and martial arts lessons at the Expo. The finale will inlcude a fashion show, martial arts demo and various dance performances.

» Moon Over Buffalo: Show dates are at 7 p.m. May 29 and 30 and June 5, 6, 12 and 13, and 3 p.m. June 7 and 14.

» After School Learning Program Performance: Show date for “Stronger Than Strong! Great American Tall Tale Heroines,” 7 p.m. today and Saturday. The show will be held at the Kaiserslautern Community Activities Center, Daenner Kaserne, Bldg. 3109. Free admission and open to all ages.

» KMC Onstage free admission for wounded Soldiers: All programming is free of charge to wounded warriors and their guests at the Fisher House. For Landstuhl patrons, transportation may be arranged; contact KMC Onstage before 2 p.m. on Fridays if transportation is required for weekend shows at usarmy.kaiserslautern.usag.mbx.kmc-onstage@mail.mil.

Armstrong’s Club Events

Armstrong’s Club is located in Bldg. 1036 on Vogelweh Family Housing. Call 0631-354-9986 for details. Unless otherwise stated, events have no cover charge and are open to all ID cardholders and their guests, 18 and over.

» Royal Princess Ball: 4 to 8 p.m, May 23. Event feaures dinner, games and dancing for fathers or mothers and their little princesses. There will be an opportunity to meet their favorite Disney Princesses and receive a special keepsake photo. Cost: $50 per parent/child couple; $25 per additional child. Seating is limited. Tickets must be reserved in advance. Deadline for reservations is May 15. Tickets can be purchased online via WebTrac, at Armstrong’s Club from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, or from any Java Cafe in the KMC.

» Urban Sounds at Armstrong’s Club: Listen to the latest hip-hop, R&B and reggae hits from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., May 23.

» Family Dance Party: 4 to 8 p.m., June 6; event includes a live disc jockey and a special visit from the Minions. General admission: $10; kids 4 and under are free. Admission includes: entrance to the dance party, character meet and greet and a family photo. An additional meal deal is available for $5 and includes a hot dog, chips or French fries, a cupcake and a drink. Early ticket purchase is recommended.

» Industry Night Mondays: 5 to 10 p.m. the first and third Monday of every month. This night for service industry employees features raffles, cocktails and music.

» Small Tab Tuesdays: 5 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday play a game of pool or pick your favorite jam on the jukebox while enjoying specials.

» Trivia Wednesdays: 6 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday.

» USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Job Fair. Are you looking for a job? Come to the USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 16 at Kazabra Club on Vogelweh, Bldg. 2057. A Military Spouse Preference briefing will be at 11 a.m. This job fair helps job seekers to get in contact with employers who have positions to fill. » Spectrum Families Support Group meets from 5 to 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month. This Exeptional Family Member Program support group is for anyone who is, has, loves or works with a person with a spectrum disorder (autism, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified, or Aspergers syndrome). Classes and Training

» Sponsorship Training is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 26. This course helps fulfill the role as a sponsor for incoming personnel. Units sending students to training need to preregister with Army Community Service to ensure that a unit-specific sign-in roster is available. » Treasurer Training is from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 22. This training consists of opening an account, maintenance of the account, Family Readiness Group Informal Fund Standard Operating Procedures, fundraising, donations and gifts, and types of funds. » The Get Fit & Eat Right Challenge Phase 1 is from June 16 to July 28 at Mountaineer Fitness Center. This 6-week challenge is designed to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The following will be offered: a variety of fitness classes designed to blast fat and build lean muscle; weekly weigh-ins and body composition measurements; weekly support sessions every Tuesday; nutritional guidance given by a licensed dietician; access to a certified personal trainer; and prizes.
