» An Operation Rising Star local competition round will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at Armstrong’s Club. Contestants are judged by a panel of judges and the audience. » Hispanic Heritage Month: Through Oct. 15. Saturday: Kick-off party at the pub with live band Borinkuba; Oct. 3: a Double Six Traditional Domino Tournament. Players play in pairs. Sign-up no later than today. No fee to participate. Winning couple receives $200; Oct. 17: The winning couple in each dance category, salsa, bachata and merengue, receives $100. No fee to participate. Sign-ups will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. the night of the event.

» Oktoberfest: Sept. 26. Free pretzels and specials with every purchase. Karaoke and disc jockey on both days. “Dirndls” and “Lederhosen,” Bavarian-style clothing, are encouraged but not required.
