The Window to Rheinland-Pfalz information counter at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center offers its visitors new English information material about sights and events in the local region.

Photo28bThe latest 2014 issue of the popular “Calendar of events for the Ramstein and Kaiserslautern area” just arrived. The calendar provides a monthly overview of city and village festivals, fairs, markets, concerts and shows, including short descriptions of the events in English. It depicts a choice of offers that the local tourism representatives consider particularly interesting for English-speaking visitors. The calendar covers the most important events in the Ramstein and Kaiserslautern area, the holiday region Lake Ohmbach/Glantal and the Donnersberg region throughout 2014.

The dates of bike event days, volksmarches and culinary hikes, as well as medieval markets or Christmas markets, are listed. People interested in cultural events will find something to awaken their interest, as will sports enthusiasts or families with children.

The pictured magazine “Leisure and Sights” was published at the end of January and covers the main local attractions. The range of subjects that are all described in a separate chapter comprises castles and historic landmarks, churches, natural monuments, parks and zoos, museums, venues for cultural events as well as other leisure activities like swimming and wellness or hiking and biking.

In 48 pages the reader can find out details about Landstuhl´s landmark Nanstein Castle, the Azur Water World in Ramstein, the Elendsklamm ravine in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, the Lake Ohmbach recreation area in Schönenberg-Kübelberg, the Kaiserslautern Zoo or the Celtic Village in Steinbach, just to mention a few. To make it easier for visitors to locate the places of interest, the addresses for GPS-navigation are mentioned as well.

Photo28aAttractions suitable for children are marked with a special sign. In addition to that the local travel guide makes several suggestions for excursion tours in the area.

All brochures are distributed for free and will also be available at the German-American Community Office in Kaiserslautern and the local tourist information centers.
