Ohmbachsee fest lures visitors with musical entertainment

The annual lake festival at Lake Ohmbachsee will take place today through Sunday. For three days, the lake will transform into a large, natural stage with lights, music and entertainment. Seventeen bands of various styles will entertain visitors on three stages around Ohmbachsee.

The mayor of the Schönenberg-Kübelberg Union Community will open the lake fest at 7 p.m. today. Bands to perform in the evening will be Insanity, die Dicken Kinder, Firma Holunder XXL and Elliot. At around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, the musical performances will come to an end.

On Saturday, bands will play from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Sunday. Visitors can listen to the bands Impact, 7ty Proof, Smokin’ Strings and Bruise.

Saturday’s highlight will be a torch light ride of about 20 boats across the lake at 10:30 p.m., followed by the lake illumination at 10:45.

Sunday’s activities will begin with music by the Saar-Pfalz-Express, which will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bands playing in the afternoon include In!Music, VanTobis and MEP. At night, Changes featuring Brass Connection, Peaches & Cream, die Toten Ärzte and Soundvision will play for the crowd.

Also, pre-registered teams can race dragon boats Saturday and Sunday.

A children’s program will also be offered starting at noon Sunday, featuring games, a bouncy castle, face painting, slack lining, swing carts and bobby carts.
A fireworks display is scheduled for 10:45 p.m. to close out the lake fest.
Stands and booths will serve regional and international food and beverage specialties.
Organizers wish to inform visitors that they cannot bring their own food and beverages. After 6 p.m. today and Saturday, dogs will not be allowed.
The daily admission ticket is €4. Children under 15 are admitted free. The ticket price for three days is €7.50.
Ohmbach lake is northwest of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, between Elschbach and Schönenberg-Kübelberg.
The Ohmbachsee is the largest lake in the Westpfalz, stretching out over an area of 15 hectares. The lake features campgrounds and the possibility to fish, sail, surf and rent boats.
