RMS take field trip to airfield

Alyssa Maxon, Ramstein Middle School sixth-grade student, is shown how to hold a hawk by Gerhard Wagner, 86th Operations Support Squadron falconer, during a field trip with Johnette Scott’s science class May 3 at an airfield on Ramstein. In conjunction with the class’ unit focussing on the environment, the students learned how falcons and hawks protect aircraft and their crews. Wagner’s birds are one facet to keeping the airfield safe from unwanted birds and animals that could potentially damage an aircraft.
