CYSS spring sports registration

Registration for Child, Youth and School Services spring sports is open through Feb. 26. Sports available are: golf, ages 8 to 15; track and field, ages 8 to 15; tennis, ages 8 to 15; soccer, ages 5 to 15; t-ball, coach pitch, baseball and softball, ages 5 to 15; and bambino baseball and soccer, ages 3 to 4. Sports season begins in April. Practices are held on Landstuhl and Sembach. Sweetheart Challenge 5K Run/Walk

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Sweetheart Challenge 5K Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday. Sign up individually or as partners. Your “sweetheart” may be anyone you like — spouse, significant other, friend, family member, etc. There will be two obstacles that must be completed as a couple in order to win the “partner prize.” Registration will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event at the Special Events Center on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Bldg. 237. Ramstein Aquatic Center

The Ramstein Aquatic Center will offer a lifeguard course to become a certified lifeguard from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Feb. 19 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20. Participants will learn multiple water rescue techniques as well as core lifesaving skills, including CPR, automated external defibrillation and first aid for the professional rescuer. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross lifeguard certificate. Cost for this course is $125. Stop by the Ramstein Aquatic Center to register.

Combatives Invitational

U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Sports and Fitness will host a Combatives Invitational at 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at Kleber Fitness Center. Registration and weigh-in will be from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and a coaches meeting from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Open to all active duty service members (male and female), ages 18 and older. Trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each category and overall. Free for participants; $5 spectator fee for ages 12 and older.
