Things To Know: Traveling throughout Europe on national holidays

Vacationers traveling throughout Europe might want to know about national holidays in the countries they are going to.
The German automobile club, ADAC, lists holidays through June from several European countries so travelers can plan accordingly:

Demark – May 8 and June 5
France – May 8
Greece – March 25, April 17 and 20, June 8
Great Britain – March 17 (Northern Ireland), May 25
Italy – April 25 and June 2
Croatia – June 22 and 25
The Netherlands – April 30 and May 5
Portugal – April 25 and June 10
Switzerland – March 19 (not in all states)
Slovenia – April 27 and June 25

This applies to Good Friday (April 10), which is not a holiday in France, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary. Attention Italy vacationers: Pentecost Monday (June 1) is only an official holiday in Southern Tyrol.
