It was a trip to look, listen and give thanks that led Under Secretary
of the Army Joseph W. Westphal to Afghanistan and Germany over the
Thanksgiving holidays.
Joined by Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Lloyd
J. Austin III, Westphal shared a holiday meal in Afghanistan with
Soldiers facing what he said is the critical task of training
Afghanistan forces in preparation for the 2014 withdrawal of NATO
forces. The transition, he said, is going well.
Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces
Africa commander, and Command Chief Master Sgt. Craig A. Adams held
their first USAFE-AFAFRICA all-call Nov. 13 on Ramstein to praise
personnel for their achievements and address issues impacting the Air
Force.
The Angel Tree program kicked off Nov. 16 in the Kaiserslautern Military
Community Center as 86th Airlift Wing Commander Brig. Gen. C.K. Hyde
gave opening remarks and then helped crown this year
