Brig. Gen. Paul M. Benenati, 7th Civil Support Command commanding general spoke to 406th Human Resources Company Soldiers, friends and family members before the Soldiers departed to Kuwait and Afghanistan Jan. 19 for a nine-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 455th EAES performs its missions on fixed wing aircraft, including the C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules and KC-135 Stratotanker, and can provide extensive critical care capability with the Critical Care Air Transport Teams.

More than 70 years ago, the first flight nurse graduated from the flight nurse course on Bowman Field, Ky. These flight nurses trained to provide a higher level of care to patients while they traveled by aircraft to other medical facilities.
