Certain U.S. electronic devices can disrupt communications in Germany and may result in legal proceedings and fines for those who use them. The use of such devices, such as cordless phones, wireless routers, and baby monitors, could interfere with critical communications systems supporting fire departments, emergency services, banks, rail systems, medical equipment, or security systems.

In celebration of National American Indian Heritage Month, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center hosted Tsimshian artist Edward E. Bryant at Heaton Auditorium, Nov. 29. Bryant, also known by Hagwil-Gáax, meaning “slow raven,” carries on the traditions of his ancestors through song, dance, storytelling and crafts. Members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community had the opportunity to sample the Tsimshian culture through Bryant’s performance.

The city of Sankt Wendel will hold its Christmas market combined with a medieval market Saturday to Dec. 17. More than 160 little decorated houses and booths will offer arts and crafts, gift ideas and regional culinary specialties 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“Lebkuchen,” or gingerbread, is one of the most popular, oldest and beloved Christmas cookies in Germany. A big variety is available – there are lebkuchen in different shapes, with chocolate, nuts or marmelade filling.
