Thursday Night Comedy Show

Recently awarded Best Standup Comedian at the Cleveland Comedy Festival, Prateek Srivastava headlines the Thursday Comedy Show Aug. 21 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Kazabra Club, Bldg. 2057 on Vogelweh. Feature Comedian is Shivani Davé, who is a NYC-based stand-up comic.   Special guest is Shannan Hunt, who produces the “Ha Ha” Harvest Comedy Festival each November. Host is local comedian Erin Crouch. This is an 18+ event. Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $15 at the door.  Payment can be made with credit and debit cards or U.S dollars. Euros are not accepted. Rolling Hills Commander’s Cup

Registration for the Rolling Hills Commander’s Cup is now until Aug. 29. This 18-hole Commander’s Cup tournament is Aug. 29 at the Rolling Hills Golf Course, Bldg. 8888 on Wetzel Kaserne in Baumholder. The Commanders Cup will be a solo stroke play tournament. Shotgun start is 10 a.m. Cost is $45, and includes cart and green fees, and meal ticket. Meet your commander and play for a chance to win a trophy and engraved plaque in a pro shop. Freaky Tiki “Summerween”

Baumholder Warrior Zone will host its Freaky Tiki “Summerween” celebration Aug. 30 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Bldg. 8218 on Smith Barracks. Open to those 18 and older, the $5 entry includes themed festivities, a sangria and a novelty coconut cup (while supplies last). Cashless payment only. Participants are invited to showcase their Limbo, Hula, and Coconut “Smoochie” Challenge skills, with costumes—Halloween or Hawaiian—strongly encouraged. Yoga Chakra-Flow Course

Registration for the Yoga Chakra-Flow Course is now until Sep. 3. The course is held Sep. 5, 12 & 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mountaineer Physical Fitness Center, Bldg. 8220 on Smith Barracks. Army Community Service 60th Birthday

Army Community Service will turn 60 years old on July 25.  To celebrate, ACS is hosting a 60th Birthday Celebration on Friday, July 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baumholder ACS, Bldg. 8666 on Smith Barracks. End of Summer Reading Celebration

Come celebrate Summer Reading successes with the free End of Summer Reading Celebration with the Landstuhl Library Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, Bldg. 3810 on Landstuhl Post, and the soccer field next to the library.  There will be games, activities, and fun! This program is for families. Baumholder Library to Host Summer Reading Block Party Celebration

The Baumholder Library invites the community to join one of the season’s most anticipated events — the Summer Reading Celebration — on July 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Pavilion No. 1, Smith Barracks, near the Wagon Wheel Theater parking lot. The event will feature games, prize giveaways and information booths hosted by local community partners. The celebration is free and open to all community members. Landstuhl Library Programs Paused in August

The Landstuhl Library will be taking a break from programming during August to plan for the upcoming fiscal year. The Summer Reading Program will continue to Aug. 31.  Storytimes and special events will be back on Sep. 1. Youth Spartan Obstacle Challenge Event

Registration for the Baumholder Youth Sports & Fitness’ Youth Spartan Obstacle Challenge Event is Aug. 4 to 15, at Parent Central Services, Bldg. 8876 on Wetzel Kaserne or WebTrac. The challenge is Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. on Minick Field. This is for youth, aged 5 to 18. Participants receive a Spartan Award. Details call 0611-143-531-3440. 

The Rolling Hills Open

Registration for the Rolling Hills Open is now until Aug. 8. The event is Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Golf Course, Bldg. 8888 on Wetzel Kaserne. Cost is $50, which includes the green fee and cart, and a  BBQ meal with drink. This is a 1-day, 18-hole championship tournament. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (MWR Gift cards, $100, $75, and $50) and all winners will receive automatic inclusion on the Rolling Hills Ryder Cup team. Southern-Style Sunday Brunch

The Sembach Community Activity Center’s restaurant is serving a southern-style Sunday Brunch starting Sunday, Aug. 10 and then held every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for Adults is $25, ages 12-17 $15, ages 6-11 $10, and ages 0-5 are free. Auditions: You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown

The Award-Winning KMC Onstage is holding auditions for “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” Aug. 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. at KMC Onstage Mainstage, Bldg. 3232 on Kleber Kaserne. The casting director is looking for multiple adult roles for this family show. Experience is not necessary. Those auditioning are asked to bring 30 to 60 seconds of music to sing. German Hunting Course in Baumholder & Kaiserslautern

German hunting courses will be held Aug. 9 to Oct. 19 in Baumholder, and Aug. 12 to Oct. 18 in Kaiserslautern. Registration is now until the first day of class. Course schedule for the Baumholder course is Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and for the Kaiserslautern course, it is Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. The German Hunting Course is an intensive program. Cost is $250 and membership fees. Open to hunters ages 18 and older, who are U.S. citizens/I.D. cardholders. Limited spaces available for this course. Summer Shred Challenge

A Fitbit Watch is the top prize for the 7-Day Summer Shred Challenge, held Aug. 15 to 22 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hall of Champions Physical Fitness Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder.  Registration is now until Aug. 14. Cost is $10. Initial weigh-in is Aug. 15 and final weigh-in is Aug. 22 at the Hall of Champions Fitness Center. Free Line Dance Workshops

Due to popular demand, two new free line dance instruction workshops have been added to the weekly Wednesday dance lessons and are Thursday, Aug. 7, and Thursday, Aug. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Armstrong’s Club, Bldg. 1036 on Vogelweh Housing. National Bowling Day

Celebrate National Bowling Day Saturday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks. It’s a day to celebrate the sport of bowling and encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate. Patrons can enjoy unlimited bowling all day for just $10 and $1.50 for shoes. Baumholder Library “A Good Yarn”

The Baumholder Library offers “A Good Yarn” for crafters ages 15 and older every second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  at the library, Bldg. 8332 on Smith Barracks. The next one will be Aug. 13. This is an opportunity for crafters to gather, chat and work on individual crafting projects.  It’s BYOCP (Bring Your Own Crafting Projects) and has a good vibe. Dog Obedience Training

Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation has dog obedience training starting at eight-weeks of age held Saturdays at the Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation Motor Pool, Bldg. 2902 on Pulaski Barracks. Classes are one hour, with time slots between 9 a.m. to noon depending on the size of the dog. Cost is $15 per dog. This fee must be paid in advance by close of business Friday either in person at Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation or by calling 493-4117 or 0631-3406-4117. SKIES Gymnastics

Enrollment is now open for SKIES Unlimited gymnastics for ages 1 to 18 in the Kaiserslautern Community. SOS Survivor Support Group

The Army Community Service Survivor Outreach Services hosts a SOS Survivor Support Group second Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Building 3820 (next to the Thrift Shop), second floor conference room on Landstuhl Post. Registration is required and must be done by 2 p.m. the day of the meeting by calling the ACS front desk at 531-2863/2851 or 0611-143-531-2863/2851. This is an ongoing monthly support group for surviving family members of deceased active duty service members.

Latin Nights at the Rheinlander!

The last Friday of the month is Latin Night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the ballroom of the Rheinlander Community Club, Bldg. 8085 on Smith Barracks. The Salsa Band Borinkuba will perform live several Latin music favorites, such as Salsa, Merengue and Bachata.  Food is available from 8 to 11 p.m. This event is for those 18 and older, who are I.D. card holders. Prenatal Yoga

Join a mindful community of expecting moms at the Massage and Yoga Studio, Bldg. 2899 on Pulaski Barracks. Cost is $5 per class or $40 for a book of 10 classes. Spanish Storytime

Baumholder Library offers Spanish Storytime, La Hora Del Cuento, for all ages to our community every third Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Imagination Room at the Baumholder Library, Bldg. 8332 on Smith Barracks.  Have fun exploring the Spanish language with books, reading, songs and other activities for a Spanish Storytime ¡con ganas!
