KIRCHENKONZERT (CHURCH CONCERT)

AUG. 17, 5 P.M., ABBEY CHURCH, OTTERBERG

Enjoy and unusual and very unique style concert with Baroque trumpets at the Abbey Church! Trumpet-like instruments made of metal have been documented as early as 1500 BC in ancient Egypt. The biblical mention of the “Trumpets of Jericho” is arguably the most popular evidence of this ancient instrument. Originally, they served as signaling instruments for armies and to announce the arrival of rulers. But, art music also played a significant role in the trumpet. The trumpet achieved a status during the High Baroque period that is still unparalleled today. Around the same time, organ building also experienced a considerable boom. These instruments, which were becoming increasingly larger and richer in tone, were considered the pinnacle of instrument making, almost aristocratic! Waldemar Jankus and Dirk Wittfeld with Jens-Peter Enk at the organ will enchant you in a lively concert. Tickets: touristtourist–info@otterbachinfo@otterbach.de
