Never Forget

Never forget. Nearly 300 members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community joined together at Kaiserslautern soccer club’s Fritz Walter Stadium on Sep. 11 to remember the 343 FDNY firefighters and first responders lost in the terrorist attacks of Sep. 11, 2001. Units from local German police and fire departments, the U.S. Air Force and USAG Rheinland Pfalz’s Directorate of Emergency Services climbed 2,071 steps, representing the 110 floors of the World Trade Center. The stair climb paused at 2:46 p.m. & 3:03 p.m. (8:46 a.m. & 9:03 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) for a moment of silence, marking the moment each tower fell. USAG Rheinland-Pfalz remembers those lost and honors the bravery of all first responders. Thank you to our German partners for standing with us in remembrance.Photo by Daniel Nagel
