FESTIVE CONCERT FOR BRASS AND ORGAN

The State Youth Trombone Choir is a select ensemble of the Trombone Association of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. The Rhineland Trombone Association promotes young, talented musicians aged between 16 and 26 from its member choirs. In the week after Laetare Sunday (Joy) – the so-called “small Easter festival in the midst of Lent” – the ensemble will present free and chorale-based music for brass and organ in the tension between Passiontide and the upcoming Easter festival. The ensemble’s repertoire reflects the stylistic diversity of the trombone choir reflects music. The Geo-Tours season in the Donnersberg region begins on Sunday, March 22, during which participants will be introduced to the exciting geological history of our region at various locations until the end of October. The geology of our Earth accompanies us every day. How have landscapes retained their current structure, what secrets do the Earth’s crust and the deeper rocks hold? Embark on a lively journey through 300 million years of Earth’s history and learn fascinating facts about the development of human culture on and around the highest mountain in the Palatinate. Under the guidance of tour guide Christoph Breitenbach, participants will learn many interesting details about the geologically significant Lorraine-Saar-Nahe Basin with the Donnersberg, about volcanism around the Donnersberg, and about the geology of the surrounding regions. Integrated into the geo-tour is the settlement history of the mountain, in particular the history of the Celtic oppidum, one of the largest Celtic towns north of the Alps, and its builders and inhabitants. For the 12th time, we are therefore organizing the German-French Farmers’ Market on the Landau town hall square. The mix makes it! Regional products from the Palatinate and culinary highlights from neighboring France make the gourmet market one of the most exciting in the region. Here you will find local products, regional produce, short transportation routes, and humane animal husbandry – this is more important today than ever before. Special emphasis is placed on this at the German-French Farmers’ Market. Stores will be open from 1 – 6 p.m., for Sunday shopping.

FLOHMARKT (FLEA AND ANTIQUE MARKET)

The flea market in the region was founded in 1975 by the Homburg Advertising Association and has developed into the largest in the Southwest German region. Today, the flea market is organized by Homburger Kultur GmbH. Every first Saturday of the month – on holidays the flea market date is postponed by one week. On peak days in the summer, up to 1,000 vendors offer their goods and attract thousands of visitors to Homburg. The flea market has become the top destination for customers, including those from France, Luxembourg, and Belgium. All of this makes the flea market a tourist attraction.
GARDEN-ART-ENJOYMENT MARKET
APRIL 27, 10 A.M. – 6 P.M., ABTEIKIRCHE, OTTERBERG
An art and enjoyment weekend with a garden market in front of the abbey church will take place in Otterberg. For the sixth time, the popular Garden-Art-Enjoyment Market will be held on Sunday, April 27. The events offer a diverse program with art, music, culinary delights, and information about gardening and nature. Over 60 selected exhibitors will present their handcrafted products in the areas of clay, wood, metal, fabric, paper, plants, and art. Visitors can look forward to numerous advisory and information booths, including a plant doctor who provides valuable tips for the new gardening season. Plants for your own garden can also be purchased. Culinary specialties will be offered on Kirchstraße, including spit-roast meat, game and lamb products, as well as vegetarian dishes and steamed dumplings. The Alte Abtei invites guests for coffee and cake starting at 2 p.m. The monastery garden is open and offers guided tours. There are also exciting activities for little visitors: The Otterberg Forestry Office is setting up a forest school behind the church, where children and parents can learn more about forest animals, plants, and ecological balance.
