Sankt Wendel, a little romantic town in the federal state of Saarland,
will hold its Christmas market from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to Dec.
16. More than 130 decorated Christmas booths will offer arts and crafts,
gift ideas and regional culinary specialties.

In Germany, Christmas markets are special highlights taking place during
the pre-Christmas time, also known as Advent. The Christmas market
season just started in the majority of towns and cities. Villages
usually choose one Advent weekend to hold their markets.

Each year, the German-American Community Office will take part in the
Kaiserslautern Christmas market. This year it will be on Santa Claus
Day, which is Thursday. GACO employees will present American and German
music groups, singers and dancers at a stage on Schillerplatz.
