Throughout the week children dressed as the three holy kings can be seen walking from house to house in the KMC. They have paper crowns on their head and carry a big golden star on a pole. They sing, pray and ask for charity collections for their parish. This is always done around Jan. 6.

In Kaiserslautern, about 3,000 soccer fans celebrated the final draw for the 2006 FIFA World Cup with a party and live bands Dec. 9 on Stiftsplatz. The audience was enthusiastic about the results of the draw and applauded the teams that will play in the local stadium.
For the second year the German-American Community Office invited Americans to perform at the Christmas market in Kaiserslautern.
Each year numerous accidents occur as a result of snow and ice conditions. According to officials of public order offices, in some cases these accidents could have been prevented if all home and property owners and tenants had carried out their responsibilities regarding the correct and timely removal of snow and ice.
All over German Christmas markets, shoppers will find unique wooden items such as nutcrackers, Christmas pyramids, angels and other figures. The origin of these holiday items goes back to the 17th century in the Erzgebirge, a mountain area near the Czech border.
The Christmas market in Kaiserslautern will present a live nativity scene 5 p.m. Monday on Schillerplatz. A horse farm will show how animals celebrate Christmas. The Goldway Pipers will play music before the Kaiserslautern Zoo will open its petting zoo from 5 to 7 p.m. The school orchestra of the Kurpfalz Realschule will perform 6 to 8 p.m.
