April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and the 86 Airlift Wing SAPR office said sexual assault has a significant impact on the military community at large. One Ramstein Airman stepped forward to tell her story. To maintain her privacy, we have agreed to refer to her as Airman “Z.”

Airmen assigned to the 1st Air and Space Communications Operations Squadron perform pushups during a physical training session March 14 on Ramstein. The 1 ACOS has challenged themselves to complete 435,000 pushups by June 2018. They chose 435,000 as a way to pay homage to their wing, the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lawrence "Shane" Colton and Inge Colton on their wedding day May 5, 1995, at Landstuhl, Germany. Colton was an attack helicopter pilot assigned to the Army's 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, who was shot down April 11, 2004, in Baghdad, Iraq. Staff Sgt. Sam Reardon, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal craftsman, holds a mock explosive after neutralizing it during an exercise March 23 on Ramstein. The event took place at a newly established training ground, which featured a mock village where various scenarios can occur. Exercise Silver Flag, which includes the EOD training, takes place more than once a year.

Megan Nunez, a personal financial counselor for a military contractor in Baumholder, provides financial recommendations to a client. Nunez received her Accredited Financial Counselor certificate in February 2016 from the FINRA Foundation Military Spouse Fellowship Program, which offers military spouses transferable job skills as accredited financial counselors.
