Europe is home to many agricultural pests that are not found in the United States, and soil is a natural hideout for them. Personnel assigned to Europe must remember to clean anything that collects dirt before they send it stateside. These pests can cause great damage to the U.S. farming economy.

Airmen from the 86th Munitions Squadron and 86th Logistic Readiness Squadron install palettes inside a shipping compartment during an exercise Oct. 25 on Ramstein. After crates of ammunition or explosives are installed within containers, they are inspected before being shipped around the world. The exercise tested Airmen’s ability to more effectively ship and secure ammunition in case of a real-world scenario that would demand more from Ramstein’s 86 MUNS.

International NATO staff work during command post exercise Trident Juncture 2016. The staff from Headquarters Allied Air Command was augmented by experts from other NATO and national air units to stand up a 300-personnel Joint Force Air Component. The team, headed by Brig. Gen. Kevin Huyck, provides air and space support to the Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy, in a fictitious collective defense scenario.
