Airman 1st Class Keith Martineau, 786th Civil Engineer Squadron electrical systems journeyman, and Tech. Sgt. Jason Howland, 786th CES NCO in charge of exterior electrical systems, check the circuit in a streetlight before repairing it Aug. 15 on Ramstein. The night operations crew repaired and replaced more than 500 lights during a three-week effort.

With the winter months coming up fast and the hours of daylight gradually shortening, a three-man team from the 786th Civil Engineer Squadron spent July 7 to 25 repairing and replacing streetlights to enhance safety and visibility during the darker hours on Ramstein.

Housing office works to reduce four-week backlog

The KMC Housing Office on Vogelweh recently took steps to reduce a four-week backlog for customers.
The backlog, a combined Housing and Furnishings Management Office issue, began with 21 unfilled employee vacancies, an increase of approximately 3,000 customers over the past year, and computer problems.

Hunter reached his goal of pumping 1 million gallons of fuel in July. An Airman has not pumped that amount of fuel in a single month at Ramstein in two years.

Regardless of the vehicle you operate, it requires fuel. For military vehicles passing through Ramstein Air Base, that fuel is often supplied by Airmen from the 86th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and one Airman from the squadron went above and beyond to perform his mission.

Celebrating National Women’s Equality Day

Although my father would try and explain this to me, it was difficult to comprehend that there was a time when women in the United States did not have the same rights as men. Growing up I always saw myself as an equal. After all, I was paid the same as my male counterparts and was able to vote shortly after my 18th birthday.

Airmen from different nations dine at the International Dining Facility at Headquarters Allied Air Command Aug. 13 on Ramstein. Until recently, an escort was required along with several days of processing time to dine at the facility. The change came after a desire was expressed to offer a new dining facility and a multinational experience.

A Greek, an American, a German and their dependents walked up to the bar — a salad bar. The NATO compound International Dining Facility recently opened its doors to all personnel with access to Ramstein Aug. 6, offering vegetables, drinks and other food.
