U.S. Air and Space Forces Airmen and Guardians assigned to Ramstein, as well as joint forces and several NATO units, participated in exercise HEAVY RAIN 23 in France and other locations in Germany, Nov. 14-17.

On September 28, a Full-Scale Exercise was held at Lajes Field with the aim of renewing the certification for the use of the aeronautical infrastructure as an international airport. The exercise, a collaboration between the 65th Air Base Group and the Portuguese Air Force, consisted of a simulated accident involving a civilian aircraft which caught fire during landing, resulting in a multi-victim scenario.
