Thursday Night Comedy Show

Recently awarded Best Standup Comedian at the Cleveland Comedy Festival, Prateek Srivastava headlines the Thursday Comedy Show Aug. 21 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Kazabra Club, Bldg. 2057 on Vogelweh. Feature Comedian is Shivani Davé, who is a NYC-based stand-up comic.   Special guest is Shannan Hunt, who produces the “Ha Ha” Harvest Comedy Festival each November. Host is local comedian Erin Crouch. This is an 18+ event. Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $15 at the door.  Payment can be made with credit and debit cards or U.S dollars. Euros are not accepted. Landstuhl CYS Job Fair

Interested in making a difference for our children in the community? Child & Youth Services will host an in-person job fair Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Landstuhl Youth Center, Bldg. 93812 on Landstuhl Post. CYS is hiring Child & Youth Program Assistants for locations in Miesau, Landstuhl, Kleber and Sembach. Landstuhl Center Clubs

The Landstuhl Youth Center offers a dynamic lineup of Boys and Girls Club of America clubs for students in grades 6 through 12, with engaging opportunities in leadership, creativity and academic support. From chess and robotics to Dungeons and Dragons and Smart Girls, each afternoon brings space for hands-on fun and growth. Landstuhl Center Programs

At the Landstuhl Youth Center, students in grades 6 through 12 are invited to explore after-school experiences where they can be whoever they want to be. Located in building 93812 on Landstuhl Post, the center champions teen spirit and celebrates individuality through activities in fine arts, technology, sports and more. Each program is designed to foster personal growth and leadership in an engaging, inclusive setting. 9/11 Remembrance 5K Run

The Baumholder Intramural Sports Program is hosting a free 9/11 5k Remembrance Run Sep. 11 starting at 7 a.m. at the Hall of Champions Fitness Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder.  Registration starts at 6 a.m.  on the day of the event at the Hall of Champions. The run will start at 7 a.m.  This 5k run will include categories for adults, kids, people with dogs, and people with strollers. First, second and third medals will be awarded in the following categories: Adult male and female; and Youth 17 & under male and female. There will also be first medals awarded in the stroller pushers and runners with dogs’ categories. Junior Librarian

Landstuhl Library invites aspiring school-age librarians to curate a personalized book display for the community. Participants will select titles and share a brief biography along with the reasons behind their choices. Displays will remain showcased for one month. Volunteer Youth Sports Coaches

Volunteer youth sports coaches are needed for the Baumholder Youth Sports fall season. Coaches are needed for soccer, cheer, archery, bowling, volleyball, golf and flag football, ages 5-15. Summer Shred Challenge

A Fitbit Watch is the top prize for the 7-Day Summer Shred Challenge, held Aug. 15 to 22 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hall of Champions Physical Fitness Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder.  Registration is now until Aug. 14. Cost is $10. Initial weigh-in is Aug. 15 and final weigh-in is Aug. 22 at the Hall of Champions Fitness Center. Baumholder Fall Start Smart

Baumholder Fall Start Smart registration for ages 3 to 4, for the Baumholder community is now to Aug. 17.  Sports offered are soccer and flag football. Start Smart is a Child/Parent interactive program led by a CYS Sports & Fitness Specialist. Cost is $30. Baumholder Fall Youth Sports

Registration for the Baumholder Fall Youth Sports Season is now to Aug. 17. The following Sports are offered: Soccer (Ages 5-15) Fee: $65; Flag Football (Ages 7-14) Fee: $65; Cheerleading (Ages 5-15) Fee: $65; Archery Clinic (Ages 9-15) Fee: $50; Golf Clinic (Ages 8-15) Fee: $50; Volleyball (Ages 9-15) Fee: $50; and Bowling Clinic (Ages 8-15) Fee: $50.  A current sports physical/health assessment must be on file and valid to Nov. 16 to participate. Preseason Conditioning

Registration for the Baumholder preseason fall sports conditioning program for ages 8-15  is now to Aug. 17. Cost is $30. This program prepares athletes for their soccer, flag football and cheer season. Creative Engagement Community Survey

Patrons can help shape the future of Family and MWR programming and creative activities in Baumholder and Kaiserslautern. A survey is available at baumholder.armymwr.com and kaiserslautern.armymwr.com for those who wish to provide input. The survey remains open until Aug. 16.

Kaiserslautern’s End of Summer Car Show

Registration for the Kaiserslautern’s End of Summer Car Show is now to Sep. 6. Cost is $10 per vehicle. The car show is Sep. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Pulaski Automotive Skills Center’s parking lot in front of building 2859 on Pulaski Barracks. Car-show participation for judging and prizes are open to all military affiliated ID card holders with or without SOFA status, to include: active duty, reserve, retired, veteran, family member, and DOD/DA/DAF civilians. Dog Obedience Training

Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation has dog obedience training starting at eight-weeks of age held Saturdays at the Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation Motor Pool, Bldg. 2902 on Pulaski Barracks. Classes are one hour, with time slots between 9 a.m. to noon depending on the size of the dog. Cost is $15 per dog. This fee must be paid in advance by close of business Friday either in person at Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation or by calling 493-4117 or 0631-3406-4117. SKIES Gymnastics

Enrollment is now open for SKIES Unlimited gymnastics for ages 1 to 18 in the Kaiserslautern Community. SOS Survivor Support Group

The Army Community Service Survivor Outreach Services hosts a SOS Survivor Support Group second Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Building 3820 (next to the Thrift Shop), second floor conference room on Landstuhl Post. Registration is required and must be done by 2 p.m. the day of the meeting by calling the ACS front desk at 531-2863/2851 or 0611-143-531-2863/2851. This is an ongoing monthly support group for surviving family members of deceased active duty service members.

Latin Nights at the Rheinlander!

The last Friday of the month is Latin Night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the ballroom of the Rheinlander Community Club, Bldg. 8085 on Smith Barracks. The Salsa Band Borinkuba will perform live several Latin music favorites, such as Salsa, Merengue and Bachata.  Food is available from 8 to 11 p.m. This event is for those 18 and older, who are I.D. card holders.
