
Thursday Night Comedy Show
Recently awarded Best Standup Comedian at the Cleveland Comedy Festival, Prateek Srivastava headlines the Thursday Comedy Show Aug. 21 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Kazabra Club, Bldg. 2057 on Vogelweh. Feature Comedian is Shivani Davé, who is a NYC-based stand-up comic. Special guest is Shannan Hunt, who produces the “Ha Ha” Harvest Comedy Festival each November. Host is local comedian Erin Crouch. Baumholder Fall Start Smart
Baumholder Fall Start Smart registration for ages 3 to 4, for the Baumholder community is now to Aug. 17. Sports offered are soccer and flag football. Start Smart is a Child/Parent interactive program led by a CYS Sports & Fitness Specialist. Cost is $30. Registration for the Baumholder Fall Youth Sports Season is now to Aug. 17. Registration for the Baumholder preseason fall sports conditioning program for ages 9-15 is now to Aug. 17. This program prepares athletes for their soccer, flag football and cheer season. Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Patrons can tuck their fuzzy friends in the Fuzzy Arms Hotel at the Baumholder Library, Bldg. 8332 on Smith Barracks. Check-in time is Sep. 5 between noon and 4 p.m. Checkout time is Sep. 8 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., when patrons can see what kind of fun and mischief their fuzzy friends got into the night before. The library staff will catch a few pictures of the mischief and adventure to give to the children, who will also receive notes from their stuffed animal telling them of their overnight adventures. 9/11 Remembrance 5K Run
The Baumholder Intramural Sports Program is hosting a free 9/11 5k Remembrance Run Sep. 11 starting at 7 a.m. at the Hall of Champions Fitness Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder. Registration starts at 6 a.m. on the day of the event at the Hall of Champions. The run will start at 7 a.m. This 5k run will include categories for adults, kids, people with dogs, and people with strollers. First, second and third medals will be awarded in the following categories: Adult male and female; and Youth 17 & under male and female. There will also be first medals awarded in the stroller pushers and runners with dogs’ categories. Junior Librarian
Landstuhl Library invites aspiring school-age librarians to curate a personalized book display for the community. Participants will select titles and share a brief biography along with the reasons behind their choices. Displays will remain showcased for one month. Volunteer youth sports coaches are needed for the Baumholder Youth Sports fall season. Coaches are needed for soccer, cheer, archery, bowling, volleyball, golf and flag football, ages 5-15. The Rolling Hills Open
Registration for the Rolling Hills Open is now until Aug. 8. The event is Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Golf Course, Bldg. 8888 on Wetzel Kaserne. Cost is $50, which includes the green fee and cart, and a BBQ meal with drink. This is a 1-day, 18-hole championship tournament. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (MWR Gift cards, $100, $75, and $50) and all winners will receive automatic inclusion on the Rolling Hills Ryder Cup team. National Bowling Day
Celebrate National Bowling Day Saturday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks. It’s a day to celebrate the sport of bowling and encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate. Patrons can enjoy unlimited bowling all day for just $10 and $1.50 for shoes. German Hunting Course in Baumholder & Kaiserslautern
German hunting courses will be held Aug. 9 to Oct. 19 in Baumholder, and Aug. 12 to Oct. 18 in Kaiserslautern. Registration is now until the first day of class. Course schedule for the Baumholder course is Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and for the Kaiserslautern course, it is Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. The German Hunting Course is an intensive program. Cost is $250 and membership fees. Open to hunters ages 18 and older, who are U.S. citizens/I.D. cardholders. Limited spaces available for this course. Southern-Style Sunday Brunch
The Sembach Community Activity Center’s restaurant is serving a southern-style Sunday Brunch starting Sunday, Aug. 10, and then held every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for Adults is $25, ages 12-17 $15, ages 6-11 $10, and ages 0-5 are free. Auditions: You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown
The Award-Winning KMC Onstage is holding auditions for “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” Aug. 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. at KMC Onstage Mainstage, Bldg. 3232 on Kleber Kaserne. The casting director is looking for multiple adult roles for this family show. Experience is not necessary. Those auditioning are asked to bring 30 to 60 seconds of music to sing. Free Dance Lessons at Armstrong’s Club
New open sessions of free beginner dance lessons is held every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Armstrong’s Club, Bldg. 1036 on Vogelweh Housing. Focus is on Country Two Step, Swing and Line Dance. Baumholder Library Programs Paused in August
The Baumholder Library will be pausing programming for the month of August. The library will return to their normally scheduled programming on Sep. 1. This pause will affect all recurring programs except for the Summer Reading Program, Sketch Masters, and TTRPG (Tabletop Role Playing Game Campaigns), which will finish out the campaign that started in July. Dog Obedience Training
Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation has dog obedience training starting at eight-weeks of age held Saturdays at the Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation Motor Pool, Bldg. 2902 on Pulaski Barracks. Classes are one hour, with time slots between 9 a.m. to noon depending on the size of the dog. Cost is $15 per dog. The Army Community Service Survivor Outreach Services hosts a SOS Survivor Support Group second Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Building 3820 (next to the Thrift Shop), second floor conference room on Landstuhl Post. This is an ongoing monthly support group for surviving family members of deceased active duty service members.
Latin Nights at the Rheinlander!
The last Friday of the month is Latin Night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the ballroom of the Rheinlander Community Club, Bldg. 8085 on Smith Barracks. The Salsa Band Borinkuba will perform live several Latin music favorites, such as Salsa, Merengue and Bachata.
