With the Air Force Ball right around the corner, let’s discuss wear of the mess dress uniform. One significant change in the latest revision of AFI 36-2903 involves the women’s uniform. The cummerbund is now worn with pleats up around the waist, halfway between the skirt and blouse. The men’s cummerbund is also worn with the pleats up around the waist, halfway between the pants and shirt. Nametags and headgear are not worn, and saluting is not required when outdoors.
