Visiting the provence and the French city of Avignon is like experiencing a time warp. Founded on hundreds of years of history, the entire region reflects its ancient heritage through its architecture and culture. One could say it’s a true “Roman holiday.”

With the arrival of spring comes the long awaited opening of the Keukenhof gardens. Located in Lisse, the Netherlands, Keukenhof gardens welcome more than 800,000 visitors from around the world each year.

Just across the border in France lies a tiny region called Alsace that almost feels German: half-timbered houses, rolling hills, a strong wine culture, small villages and words you might recognize.

Even poet Goethe felt what most of us do when spring brings rain and chilly weather: Let’s go somewhere nice! Centuries ago, the inhabitants of Northern Europe were drawn to warmer, nicer, more pleasant locations at this time of year.

London is notorious for attracting swarms of tourists to its well-known landmarks and museums. While London’s hotspots are remarkable in their own right, I am interested in a different London. A lesser-known gem of London exists in the form of the Freud Museum.

Buzzing with life both night and day, one can never be bored in London. From rock-and-roll musicals to exclusive shopping trips, it is the perfect city for a quick, weekend trip.
