Christmas market starts in Kaiserslautern
The Christmas market in Kaiserslautern will be set up around Stiftskirche and on Schillerplatz from Monday to Dec. 23. Stores will open for Sunday shopping from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 29.

The following is a list of performances and events happening in the KMC and nearby locations. Dates are subject to change.

Performing arts:

Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern:

• “Nur noch kurz die Welt retten,” a Europe revue, 8 p.m. today and Dec. 10, 12, 15, 20 and 29.

• “My Fair Lady,” a musical by Frederick Loewe, in German, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 1 and 25, 8 p.m. Dec. 23, 7 p.m. Dec. 31.

• “Penthesilea,” a tragedy by Heinrich Kleist, in German, 8 p.m. Saturday.

• “Herzog Blaubarts Burg” and “Der Zwerg,” two operas in German, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 and Dec. 12.

• Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbruecken Kaiserslautern present “From Spain to Bohemia,” a concert with works by Manuel de Falla, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonin Dvorak, 8 p.m. today. Tickets cost from €17 to €25.

• Violinist Daniel Hope and pianist Sebastian Knauer present “Menuhin@100” with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Maurice Ravel and Bela Bartok, 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets cost €14 to € 24.

• Deutsche Radio Philharmonie present “Pas-de-deux” with works by Walter Braunfels and Pjotr Tschaikowski, 1 p.m. Thursday. Lunch will be offered at noon. Tickets cost €21 with lunch and €12 without lunch.

• The metal band Clustered Vision and rock band Arsen perform at 8 p.m. today.

• “Simon & Garfunkel meets Classic,” a tribute to Simon & Garfunkel, presented by the duo Graceland, 8 p.m. today.

• The Mainz Chamber Orchestra presents works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 5 p.m. Sunday.
