News for the Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl & Baumholder military communities in Germany 
The Westrich Fasching parade,
featuring 17 carnival associations, 24 walking groups and 22 floats,
lured more than 25,000 spectators to Ramstein-Miesenbach on Fat
Tuesday. The KMC was represented by various military leaders, the U.S.
Air Forces in Europe Band, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, the Ramstein High
School Step Team and the 86th Construction and Training Squadron with a
decorated truck.
For more than 20 years, the village of Olsbrücken has observed a special
tradition the Saturday after Fasching: the burning of winter. The event
is co-sponsored by the community and the Pfälzerwaldverein
hiking group.
Vacationers standing in front of closed stores in other countries might have overlooked an official holiday.

for the 2009 Government Employees Insurance Company Military Service
awards.
The 86th Services Squadron food service team was recently selected to
compete for the prestigious 2010 John L. Hennessy Award for the second
year in the row after being recognized as the 2010 U.S. Air Forces in
Europe Food Services Excellence Award. Ramstein will compete in the
multiple-facility category.
Maj. Gen. Patricia McQuistion, 21st Theater Sustainment Command
commanding general, cut the ribbon at a grand opening ceremony of the
Kleber Tax Center Feb. 9 on Kleber Kaserne to signify the opening of
the 21st TSC tax centers in Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl and Mannheim.
