6th Annual Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Paul Airey Memorial Ruck

U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. The ruck honors Airey who endured 10 months as a prisoner of war during World War II, and was among few who survived dysentery, exhaustion and starvation, while being forced to march 400 miles across Germany during one of the coldest winters in history.

The ruck honors Airey who flew with the 485th Bombardment Group During World War II and was captured after being shot down, and spent the rest of the conflict as a prisoner of war.
