Retiree Activities Office Open Throughout the Summer
The 86th Airlift Wing Retiree Activities Office (86 AW/RAO), located on Kapaun Air Station, is proud to serve military retirees, spouses, surviving spouses, and their families from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces throughout the Kaiserslautern Military Community.
As many people travel during the summer months, the Retiree Activities Office remains open and fully operational. Our dedicated volunteers are here to answer questions, provide guidance, and assist with military retiree benefits, DEERS, TRICARE, the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs resources, casualty assistance, and other retirement-related services.
The RAO is also seeking volunteers who would like to continue serving the military community. If you enjoy helping fellow retirees and their families, we invite you to join our team. Training is provided, and even a few hours each week can make a lasting impact.

Weapon-free zone – Kaiserslautern inner city area
On May 28, the Kaiserslautern inner city area was declared a weapon-free zone. It is now illegal to carry any knives or other weapons within the designated area. Police now have the authority to carry out searches of people and their belongings without probable cause within the weapon-free zone. This move comes as a response to a fatal stabbing near the mall in February of this year.
Updated Clinic Hours – Important Notice
The 86th Medical Group has updated hours to support mandatory training and unit readiness. The clinic will be CLOSED all day on the third Wednesday of every month for mandatory training.
2026 closure dates are as follows: July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, December 16.
Additionally, we will close at 3 p.m. every Wednesday for unit physical training (PT).

ATTN: Those packing up, leaving the KMC
Many members wait too long to begin the household goods moving process, thereby causing additional stress and delays. The 86th Logistics Readiness Squadron Personal Property Office advises movers to call them at +49-631-536-7727 three weeks before moving to begin the booking process.
Official Photo Studio has moved
The 86th AW/PA Official Photo Studio has moved to our new permanent location. The new location is in the second-floor offices located in the back portion of the Hercules Theatre, Bldg 2101. To schedule an appointment, go to www.ramstein.af.mil. If you have any questions call DSN: 480-9199.
