After several years in a lapse of joint training, the 86th Airlift Wing Host Nation Office and 786th Civil Engineer Squadron Emergency Management, took the lead in coordinating a German-American tabletop exercise in Kaiserslautern, April 13.

A large group of emergency management teams from the Kaiserslautern County, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force and German police, met in Kaiserslautern county’s fire and disaster protection department to work their way through an extensive accident scenario. The aim of this exercise was to identify areas of improvement to allow for teams to familiarize with each other and to understand the various structures and regulations. A real-world exercise is scheduled for Sep. 28.

County Commissioner Ralf Leßmeister, at the head of the table, and Deputy County Commissioner Ms. Gudrun Heß-Schmidt, discuss mutual aid and emergency management between U.S. and Kaiserslautern assets, in Kaiserslautern, April 13. This engagement allowed both groups to better understand structures and regulations.
