ADAC informs about holidays in other countries



Travelers who plan on trips in European countries, should consider the official holidays in countries, they want to go to. The German automobile club ADAC presents a schedule of holidays for the first half of 2006 in highly frequented European countries. So travelers can avoid going places thinking stores and banks are open there.

Denmark: April 13, May 12
Finland: June 24
France: May 8
Greece: March 6 and 25
Great-Britain: March 17 (North Ireland), May 29
Ireland: March 17

The Netherlands: April 30
Norway: April 13, May 17
Austria: May 26
Poland: May 3 and 26
Portugal: Feb. 28, April 25, June 10
Romania: May 2
Sweden: June 6, 23 and 24
Switzerland: March 19 (not in all cantons)
Serbia/Montenegro: April 27, May 2 and 9
Slovenia: Feb. 8, April 27, May 2, June 25
Spain: March 19 (regionally), April 13 (except for Catalonia and Cantabria)
Czech Republic: May 8
Turkey: April 23, May 19
Hungary: March 15

Some holidays, which are observed in Germany, such as Good Friday are no holidays in France, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary.

In Italy, Pentecost Monday (June 5) is only observed in South Tyrole. (ADAC press release)
