***image1***The 435th Medical and Dental Squadron earned bragging rights for the Air Force by beating the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center 68-61 in the annual Air Force vs. Army bragging rights intramural basketball game Monday at the Vogelweh Fitness Center. The game places the winners of their respective intramural leagues against each other to find out who is the best.

After going 18-0 in the regular season, the 435MDS team capped their season of perfection with another win.

“This was the biggest win of all,” said 435MDS forward James Sheard. “It would have put a damper on the season with a loss here.”

435MDS jumped out to a big lead to start the game and then locked down on defense the rest of the way.

“Our team defense wore them down when they tried to come back,” said Troy Myles, 435MDS forward.

For the next year the Army has to look up at the Air Force as far as intramural basketball goes.

“It means alot,” said Myles, who scored 19 points. “The Army looks down on the Air Force as if we are soft. I know it’s only basketball but it means something.”

The leading scorers for the 435MDS team were guard Chris Pearson with 20 points, Myles with 19 points and forward Byron Owens with 15 points.

High scorers for the LRMC team were forward Antonio Johnson with 20 points, guard Jeremy Aponte with 15 points and guards Terrel Oliver and Parker Hahn followed up with 11 points each.
