Airmen assist June Bug Out field day

Sparky, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron fire prevention mascot, demonstrates the proper way to execute the stop, drop, and roll maneuver at Ramstein Elementary School’s June Bug Out field day June 8. Groups of approximately 30 children at a time came to watch Sparky and 86 CES Airmen speak about fire safety.

About a dozen SFS Airmen volunteered at the field day to show elementary school students a portion of their day-to-day activities as SFS Airmen.

Sparky, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron fire prevention mascot, extends emotional support to Airman 1st Class Derek Kildow, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, as he demonstrates how to use a fire extinguisher June 8 at Ramstein Elementary School’s June Bug Out field day. 10 CES Airmen volunteered at the field day to show students a portion of their day-to-day activities as firefighters.

 

Staff Sgt. Joseph Bagnasco, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, and Sparky, 86th Civil Engineer Squadron fire prevention mascot, explain how firefighter gear is used at Ramstein Elementary School’s June Bug Out field day June 8. After a brief demonstration on how the firefighters use their gear, students were allowed to take a tour of the fire truck.
