Airmen exercise humanitarian relief

Members of the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing participated in Exercise Market Orchard Aug. 27 outside of U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder, Germany.

The exercise scenario challenged members to set up an operational air base that could provide humanitarian relief and operations from a previous bare base. Airmen from the 435th Contingency Response Group and Air and Space Communications Group established airfield operations, communications, medical, security and bare base support.

The exercise allowed both groups to refine and standardize tactics, techniques and procedures used by the 435th AGOW to successfully open and connect an airfield in a contingency environment.
