The Alsenz Valley offers car-free fun between Imsweiler-Rockenhausen and Alsenz from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The event, called “Treffpunkt Alsenztal,” or meeting location Alsenz Valley, will also feature musical entertainment, culture, children’s activities and culinary specialties.

Bicyclists, inline skaters, walkers and hikers can have federal street B48 from Imsweiler to Alsenz for a total of 20 kilometers all to themselves. It will be closed to all motorized traffic.

Special event stations will be erected in Imsweiler, Rockenhausen, Dielkirchen, Bayerfeld-Steckweiler, Mannweiler-Cölln, Oberndorf and Alsenz. Museums along the route will remain open and some will display special exhibitions. The church in Oberndorf will offer guided tours to see the frescoes at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

In Bayerfeld-Steckweiler, leg massages will be available for tired bikers.
The children’s programs will include jumping castles, face painting, monkey climbing, go-cart driving and table soccer.

Various regional music associations and music bands will also entertain the audience in the different villages.

Clubs, restaurant owners and farmers will serve various food specialties and vintners will allow visitors to taste their wines.

A bicycle service station will be set up in Rockenhausen and first aid stations can be found in several locations.

Those who don’t like to walk or ride a bike can use a “Bimmelbahn,” which is a small train driving between Rognacplatz in Rockenhausen and Bayerfeld, or a wagon taxi, which will  transport passengers between Rathausbrücke in Alsenz and the railroad crossway in Bayerfeld. Regular trains can be boarded at the train station in Imsweiler, Rockenhausen and Alsenz.
