AV-Det Rotation: 37 AS, 86 AES race against time

A C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Ramstein Air Base, is photographed shortly before engaging in a simulated mass casualty transportation exercise during 2021 Aviation Detachment Rotation near Powidz, Poland, Oct. 22. Training exercises in forward locations in Poland enable collective defense capabilities and provide the U.S. and NATO the strategic and operational breadth needed to deter adversaries and assure allies and partners.

Personnel from the 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron transport a simulated injured individual during 2021 Aviation Detachment Rotation near Powidz, Poland, Oct. 22. The exercise was in response to a simulated mass casualty event, which tested 86th AES personnel to respond effectively with each patient aboard the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft as it flew back to Ramstein Air Base.

Personnel from the 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron attempt to resuscitate a simulated incapacitated patient inside a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft in an exercise during 2021 Aviation Detachment Rotation near Powidz, Poland, Oct. 22. As the aircraft flew to Ramstein Air Base, 86th AES personnel received instruction from the local validating flight surgeon to continue life saving intervention until the C-130J landed at RAB. In this exercise, 86th AES personnel provided care to the injured patient for more than one hour.

Three aircraft from Dutch, Belgian and German air forces fly in formation behind a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft during an interfly mission as part of 2021 Aviation Detachment Rotation, near Ramstein Air Base, Oct. 22. Training exercises involving the U.S. Air Force and its allies continue to strengthen collective deterrence efforts and improve readiness.
