Hallowing is just around the corner and U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder is brewing up a witch’s cauldron full of events for this year’s celebration, held Oct. 26 through 31.

To get people in the mood for Halloween, Baumholder’s haunted house in the basement of the Rheinlander Community Club will be scaring the bejeebers out of visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. every day from Oct. 26 to 28. This attraction is geared for adults, and parental discretion is recommended for children.

Shooters is holding a costume contest Oct. 27, and the annual Monster Mash 5 kilometer run kicks of on Halloween Day at 9 a.m. Oct. 31 beginning at the Hall of Champions. Participants are encouraged to run in costume.

A treasure trove of goodies awaits all the gruesome goblins and wicked little witches at the Rheinlander Community Club parking lot during the annual trunk-or-treat from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Trunk-or-treat allows off-post families to park in a centrally located place on post and pass out candy to the community’s ghosts and goblins. Community members are invited to set up their “candy trunks” at the Rheinlander parking lot for the children to gather their goodies.

Traditional house-to-house trick-or-treating will also take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Children may participate in either or both of these events.
Strikers will close out Halloween with costume bowling and a costume contest beginning at 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

German guests with proper identification and escort are invited to visit the haunted house and to participate in the costume bowling and contest events at Strikers. Children from the German Catholic and Protestant kindergartens are also invited to participate in trunk-or-treat.
