The assigned mechanics are responsible for maintaining vehicle mobility by troubleshooting, fixing and maintaining roughly 60 vehicles at the motor pool.

Vehicle mechanics keep Army rolling throughout European theater

Warm air carrying the smell of used motor oil and grease circulated through the open bay of the mechanic shop. While one mechanic combed through the colored tangle of wires exposed under the vehicle’s dashboard, another mechanic scanned the various hoses and tubes under the hood of their assigned vehicle.

The medal was awarded to retired U.S. Army Master Sgt. Leroy Petry for his actions in Afghanistan in 2008. Operation Proper Exit and the Troops First Foundation brought Petry and several other wounded warriors to Ramstein to visit the 86th AES, the squadron that medically evacuated them from Iraq and Afghanistan to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

Celebration of Life

It is with deep regret we share the loss of one of our own. On the evening of Dec. 15, 2019, Noreen Mantini passed away following a tough battle with cancer surrounded by family. An educator with DoDEA for almost 40 years in Baumholder and Ramstein school communities and school counselor at the Ramstein Intermediate School for over 15 years, Noreen touched the lives of countless students and families.
