The annual Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair will take place June 3 to 5 in the city of Alzey. Cities and union communities of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, charity organizations and military forces will participate in the fair to demonstrate who they are and what they have to offer.
Public outdoor swimming pools in the area are open now. The majority of them are heated, and they usually stay open until September, if weather permits.

For the second time, Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel will sponsor its “Castle Spring” 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Reipoltskirchen will host a medieval market at the bottom of its “Wasserburg,” a moated castle, Saturday and Sunday. For the fourth time, this castle, which is one of the best-kept castles in the Pfalz, will be the location for medieval groups presenting the life of the Middle Ages.

Sunday and Monday, Germans observe “Pfingsten,” or Pentecost. It’s a religious fest, and Monday is considered an official holiday in Germany. Stores, banks and official institutions will be closed.
