Trier: ‘Oldest city in Germany’ still entices travelers

A three hour drive from the KMC brings travelers to one of the most quaint german towns in the country. Old timbered houses, colorful facades, friendly water canals, and some of the most delicious beer you’ll drink await you.
Heimkirchen, part of the City of Niederkirchen, will sponsor an “old world” culinary hike from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The scenic hiking route is 5.5 kilometers long and features 10 stations, where only Palatinate specialties from the so-called “old world” will be served.
For the 13th time, Kaiserslautern will sponsor its annual “Long Night of Culture” Saturday to Sunday. The event will feature more than 120 performances, presentations and displays in 20 locations, including the Fruchthalle, Emmerich-Smola Music School, Theodor-Zink Museum, Pfalztheater, Pfalzgalerie Museum, youth center, Apostelkirche, Stifts-kirche, Hoffnungskirche, Union Theater for film arts and the Japanese Garden.
The Winnweiler Tourist Office will offer a guided moonlight tour of Falkenstein Castle in English July 12.
