Now is the time for enthusiastic ice skaters to prepare for the opening of the “Kaiserslautern on Ice” season, which starts at 6 p.m. Nov. 21. For the fifth year, a mobile ice skating rink will be set up in the event hall of the Kaiserslautern Gartenschau. The annual ice skating season will run through Feb. 15.

Every second Wednesday in November, the village of Quirnbach holds its traditional horse market. The event will include a horse show with awards, vendors, food specialties, musical entertainment and a raffle.

On Saturday, many Germans will visit cemeteries to decorate the gravesites of deceased family members and friends with flowers or wreaths made of fir tree branches, pine cones and dried flowers, and to light candles. They do this because it is “Allerheiligen,” or All Saints Day, a religious holiday for Catholics.

The last weekend of the month in Ramstein-Miesenbach is always dedicated to “Wendelinusmarkt,” a market featuring vendors, exhibitors, music and food specialties. The market will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the center of town.
