Santa’s lean workshop
I’ve been to Toyota, Caterpillar, John Deere, Standard Aero, Wal-Mart and many other industries to study their streamlined processes, also known as their lean manufacturing processes, but the one factory I’d love to see as the pinnacle of lean operations is Santa’s workshop in the North Pole.

SACEUR honors 54 years of service
Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, commander of Supreme Allied Command Europe and U.S. European Command, honored a member of the KMC — someone who at one time was a Soldier, Airman and civil servant — by officiating his retirement Dec. 12 on Ramstein.
John Mace retired after 54 total years of service to the U.S. military with more than 100 family members, friends and military leaders present. Also, in attendance was Gen. Mark A. Welsh, U.S. Air Force chief of staff.

‘First in Support’ main body arrives in Senegal
After weeks of preparation, the main body elements of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command headquarters, 7th Civil Support Command, 30th Medical Brigade and 16th Sustainment Brigade deployed Nov. 17 to Dakar, Senegal, in support of Operation United Assistance.
