Thirty-three medical personnel descended upon the Sahara Desert
destined to change the lives of citizens in the vicinity of Guelmim,
Morocco, known as
One flight. In all the missions flown by the U.S. Air Force across all
the world in one year, just one is singled out for the Mackay Trophy,
given in honor of the
Nancy Sawyer worked for free this year to help new Army spouses
understand military life, checked on family members while their spouses
were deployed, and prepared meals and provided transportation for
wounded Soldiers.
Airmen deploying in response to Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring
Freedom in Southwest Asia can travel a little lighter now thanks to the
new Expeditionary Theater Distribution Center at Al Udeid Air Base.
The 38th Combat Support Wing stood up in May of 2004 with only five
people and no computers, building furniture or phones. In two years,
it has developed into a 2,900-person wing with a $350 million budget.
